Privacy policy and terms of use

This page explains what data AnkiForge collects, how it is used, and the rules for using the service. If you have questions, email ankiforge@proton.me.

Privacy policy

What we collect

We collect the minimum data needed to run AnkiForge and improve the product.

Account data

  • Name, email, profile image, and phone (from Google sign-in), stored encrypted at rest.
  • Authentication sessions, including IP and user-agent.

Usage & analytics

  • Deck generation events and token usage.
  • Metadata like deck name, card count, format, file size, and the page used (homepage or studio).
  • Rate-limit logs tied to user ID or IP address.

Billing data

  • Stripe customer and subscription identifiers.
  • Top-up purchases and subscription status metadata.

Support messages

  • Contact form messages are emailed to us and not stored in the database.

File processing

Uploaded files are processed to extract text and generate flashcards. Generated .apkg exports are stored in Cloudflare R2 so you can download them, and access is limited to your account via short-lived signed URLs. Files are retained for 6 months. We do not store your uploaded files or generated cards in our database. Note content is sent to Google Gemini to generate the cards.

How we use data

We use data to authenticate users, enforce rate limits, manage tokens, handle billing, and improve AnkiForge. We do not sell your personal data.

Sharing

We rely on trusted providers to run the service, including Google (sign-in and Gemini), Stripe (payments), Vercel Analytics (usage metrics), and email providers. These providers process data only to deliver their services.

Security & access

Sensitive profile fields are encrypted at rest. You can request access or deletion of your account data by emailing ankiforge@proton.me.

Terms of use

Using AnkiForge

By using AnkiForge, you agree to the following terms.

Your account & content

  • You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • You confirm you have rights to upload and process your materials.
  • We use your content only to generate and export your .apkg files.

Acceptable use

  • Do not misuse, disrupt, or reverse engineer the service.
  • Do not attempt to bypass rate limits or access restrictions.
  • Use the service in compliance with applicable laws.

AI-generated output

  • Flashcards are generated automatically and may be imperfect.
  • You are responsible for reviewing and editing cards before studying or sharing.

Payments & availability

  • Payments and subscriptions are handled by Stripe.
  • We may update, pause, or discontinue features as the product evolves.
  • We may suspend accounts for violations or suspected abuse.
The service is provided on an "as available" basis without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, AnkiForge is not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
